About the FPSHQ graphics card catalog

Our catalog gathers 2,400+ graphics cards of all generations — from old GTX 7xx and Radeon HD to the latest RTX 50 series and RX 9000. Each card has a full page with specs, benchmarks, pros/cons, FPS tests in popular games and a user rating.

What data we collect

For each GPU we store: precise technical specs (CUDA/Stream Processors, clocks, memory size and type, bus, TDP, process node, transistors), benchmark results from TechPowerUp, GamersNexus, 3DMark Time Spy and Speed Way, prices at major stores with 6 months of history, photos of reference and popular AIB models, and pros and cons from our expert review.

How Bench Score is calculated

Bench Score (0–10,000) is a relative performance metric in average games. It is the geometric mean of 12 figures: 1080p/1440p/4K ultra, synthetic 3DMark Time Spy / Speed Way / Port Royal tests, OpenCL/Vulkan compute. The RTX 5090 is set to 10,000. This makes it easy to compare cards from different generations: an RTX 3080 (Bench 4,800) is comparable to an RX 7700 XT (Bench 4,900).

NVIDIA RTX generations

  • RTX 50 series (Blackwell, 2025): GDDR7, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, 5th-gen tensor cores, the best ray tracing.
  • RTX 40 series (Ada Lovelace, 2022–2024): TSMC 4 nm, DLSS 3 with Frame Generation, excellent efficiency.
  • RTX 30 series (Ampere, 2020–2022): Samsung 8 nm, the first mainstream generation with 2nd-gen RT cores.

AMD Radeon generations

  • RX 9000 (RDNA 4, 2025): new AI accelerators, FSR 4 with a neural network, improved RT.

Which GPUs are good for 1440p?
1440p is the sweet spot of 2026. For 1440p@144 FPS at ultra: RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti, RX 9070 XT, RX 7900 XT. For 1440p@60+, an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, RX 7700 XT or RX 7800 XT is enough. With DLSS/FSR Quality they handle even the most demanding titles.
Is it worth buying a used GPU after mining?
Only if the price is at least 30–40% below MSRP and the seller allows testing. Mining cards ran 24/7 at 100% load, the thermal paste is often dried out, and fan bearings are worn. Check the heatsink, PCB discoloration, memory for errors (OCCT, MemTest86 GPU) and stability under Furmark/3DMark for 30 minutes.
How is DLSS different from FSR?
DLSS is an NVIDIA technology that uses the tensor cores of RTX cards and AI networks for upscaling. It only works on GeForce RTX (from the RTX 20 series). FSR is AMD's open technology that works on any GPU (including old GTX and Intel Arc). DLSS is usually better in Quality mode, but FSR 4 (2025) with its neural network has caught up to DLSS 3.
What power supply does a GPU need?
Rule: PSU wattage = GPU TDP + 250–300 W. For an RTX 5090 (575 W) you need a 1000 W+ PSU, an RTX 5080 (360 W) — 850 W, an RTX 4070 Super (220 W) — 650 W. Choose a PSU from Seasonic, Corsair, be quiet! or Cooler Master with at least 80+ Gold certification.
Which is better: more VRAM or more FPS?
It depends on use. For 1080p, 8 GB is enough. For 1440p, 12 GB is comfortable and 16 GB gives 3–4 years of headroom. For 4K and ray tracing, at least 16 GB. If VRAM runs short, the game streams textures from the slow SSD and FPS drops sharply (Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 Remake).
Are modern graphics cards noisy under load?
Noise depends on the vendor model, not the chip. Reference versions (NVIDIA Founders Edition, AMD Reference) are often louder than AIB models from ASUS ROG / MSI Suprim X / Gigabyte AORUS. On average, under full load modern GPUs run at 32–42 dBA, and at idle a passive mode (0 dBA) or 25–28 dBA.
How often should you upgrade a graphics card?
The top segment (xx80/xx90) is replaced every generation for the newest effects. Mid-range (xx70) — every 2 generations (≈4 years). Budget (xx60) lasts 4–6 years. If your card delivers 60+ FPS in your favorite games at the settings you want, an upgrade is pointless.
