FPS is a range from the lower to the upper bound of the GPU’s official power (TGP): in a low-power laptop it will be closer to the lower number.

How we calculate

Models and their GPUs come only from official manufacturer pages (catalog /laptops/, each model links its source and check date).

FPS is the single FPSHQ model adjusted for GPU power: FPS is proportional to the boost clock, which rises from the lower to the upper bound of NVIDIA’s official TGP.

If the maker does not state power, we show a range. Cooling, CPU and the power profile matter too — this is an estimate, not a measurement.

Laptop for gaming: which GPU you need

The key is the GPU and its power (TGP). The table lists, for each popular game, the most affordable laptop GPU for 60 FPS at 1080p high.

FAQ

What laptop do I need for games?
The key is the GPU and its power (TGP). The table lists, for each popular game, the most affordable laptop GPU for 60 FPS at 1080p high.
Why is FPS shown as a range?
The same laptop GPU runs at different power in different laptops — from the lower to the upper bound of NVIDIA’s official range.
Where does FPSHQ get its data?
From four sources: official developer and Steam system requirements (162,967 games), hardware manufacturers' specifications (1,965 GPUs, 456 CPUs), FPS measurements from reviews, YouTube and players (105 independent measurements and 4,800 rows of aggregated review data), and the FPSHQ model where no measurement exists — always labelled "estimate".
What is the single FPSHQ FPS model?
One algorithm that, from the GPU score, the CPU gaming score and the game's demand, computes FPS at 1080p/1440p/4K on Low–Ultra presets. The same number appears on every page — games, GPUs, comparisons, calculators — and whenever a real measurement exists it takes priority over the estimate.
