How we calculate

We use official system requirements only: the game’s Steam page or the publisher’s site. Estimated requirements are never used; a game page is indexed only if the developer states a recommended amount of RAM. The minimum is what the game should launch with; the recommendation is for comfortable play at recommended settings. The 8/16/32 GB verdict is a direct comparison with these numbers. “Comfortable” is an FPSHQ rule: the recommendation plus 25% for the OS and background apps, rounded up to a two-module kit. The yearly trend uses medians by release year, groups of at least 5 games. More about the methodology →
